Orearville R-IV Board Meeting

Regular Session

June 21, 2023

The Orearville R-IV School Board met for their regular school board meeting on June 21, 2023 in the teacher’s lounge. President Chase Wright called the meeting to order at 5:32pm.

PRESENT: Whitney Thompson, Chase Wright, Lance McWhirter, Makenzie Thomason, Zach Kruger, David Kruger, Dian Fizer, Cassandra McWhirter

David Kruger motioned to approve Cassandra McWhirter as Secretary to the Board. Lance McWhirter seconded motion. Motion unanimously carried.

MAY BOARD MINUTES:

• David Kruger motioned to approve May Board meeting minutes.

• Lance McWhirter seconded motion.

• Motion unanimously carried.

APPROVAL OF BILLS:

• Lance McWhirter motioned to approve bills.

• Dian Fizer seconded motion.

• Motion unanimously carried.

TREASURER’S REPORT:

• Zach Kruger motioned to approve the Treasurer's Report.

• Makenzie Thomason seconded the motion.

• Motion unanimously carried.

OLD BUSINESS:

• Employee Insurance - no motion made.

• District boundary lines clarification - based on county lines that touch Saline County.

• Safety Grant was discussed.

NEW BUSINESS:

• Out of district student policy was discussed.

• Fiscal Year 2023-2024 Budget was discussed. 

  • David Kruger motioned to approve the fiscal year 23-24 budget.

  • Lance McWhirter seconded the motion.

  • Motion unanimously carried.

• Baseline salary was amended and approved. 

  • David Kruger made a motion to amend the salary schedule.

  • Dian Fizer seconded the motion. 

  • Motion unanimously carried.

REPORTS:

• Administrative report

  • Library location changed for next school year

  • Recognition was given for board and community members' involvement in removing aluminum from school property. 

At 6:53pm David Kruger motioned to move to executive session. Dian Fizer seconded motion. Motion unanimously carried.
